April Foolery . . a.k.a. Riley's excuse to torture his father

Next to Christmas and his birthday, I think Riley's favorite day of the year is April Fools Day!
He spent the morning coming up with every possible way to play jokes on anyone he could, however his father seemed to get the brunt of it. (I helped a little.) He started off by switching the bags of cereal inside the boxes, and removing all the batteries from the remotes. Then he switched mom and dad's deodorants, placed mom's hair clips in the toes of all of Phil's shoes, mismatched all Phil's socks, mis-buttoned all of Phil's shirts, and then he switched my apple for an orange in my lunch. At school his teacher played many jokes on him, and helped him make another joke. So since Phil wasn't home, we had to head over to grandma's to play his last trick.

As soon as the boys walked in the door, they were ready to tackle grandpa, and grandpa was ready as well. (Although Wes had to take a minute to run around the corner and first turn into the green Power Ranger. Then there was a rather lengthy discussion in which Wes had to make sure that Grandpa knew that he (Wes) was the good guy and Grandpa was the bad guy. No fighting could take place until this was definitely understood by both of them.)
Riley then set up his "matching" game to play with grandma, and smiled the whole time grandma played along. Finally grinning from ear to ear, he announced "April Fools" and made the explanation that there weren't actually any matches in his school-made game!
I think (and I'm sure Phil will agree) it's a good thing that April Fools is only once a year!!

  1. Of course Wes is the good guy...was there any question about that?

  2. Yes, there was considerable discussion about who was the "good guy." Grandpa kept saying HE was the good guy and Wes would counter with "No, I'm the good guy." But when Wes turned to his mother and said, "Mom, HE thinks HE'S the good guy!!!" Heather cleared it up convincingly, by saying, "But Wes, ALL bad guys THINK they're good guys!!" ...and that settled it!! Cute Wes...silly Grandpa!!
